Verlen Skeens

Verlen Skeens, of Camden, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015, in his home , surrounded by his loving family.   He was 81.

Verlen was born, November 7, 1933, in Freemont, Virginia, to the late, John & Virgie (Belchen) Skeens.

Verlen had over a 20 year career in the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War, as well as peacetime. Afterwards he continued in civil service at the Dover Air Force Base, where he worked in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration. In his free time, Verlen enjoyed coin collecting , fishing, and gardening.

In addition to his parents, and siblings, Verlen was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Skeens, who died in 2012.

Verlen is survived by his 3 children,  Dennis E. Skeens, and wife , Lisa; Walker Skeens, and wife, Dawn; and Michael Skeens; and 8 grandchildren.

Viewing will be held from 2-4 pm, Sunday, September 27, 2015, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE; and again  Monday, at 11 am , September 28, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 noon, in The Church of the Holy Cross, 631 S. State St. Dover, DE. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, with Full Military Honors.
