I have worked with JR for 23 years at USDA. He always liked to stop by my office to talk about Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and crabbing. He will be missed by everyone. Prayers to all his friends and family.

I had the pleasure of knowing Alton for quite a few years. We met thru his work at USDA and I'm honored to say we became good friends. Monthly I looked forward to his trek out to Western Maryland to view the progress on our projects and to have the occasion to go out for an evening meal and enjoy a conversation. Even when I didn't have a project that he was involved in we still made the time to visit. Our time talking was something I will forever remember. He was such a kind heart and someone I was truly blessed to be able to say he was my friend. I will miss him as I know everyone who knows him will. My hope and prayer is that he is now inspecting in a much greater place and that we will meet again one day. Please accept my most sincere condolences at this time. Unfortunately I will not be able to be there in person but know that I will forever remember Jr in my heart.

JR was an important part of my life for the last 22 years. We shared many memories together from our daughter's weddings to the births of our grandchildren. We traveled on many vacations together and had a lot of great times. He always treated my daughter and grandchildren as if they were his own. My family all embraced him and loved him as their own. We all loved him and will miss him.

JR became part of our extended family when our son Dave married Jessica. We shared many social and family times with him and his camera. He opened his heart to our grandchildren and became " Junior Pop". Our family will miss him but he will remain in our hearts. To JR's family, our sincere sympathy during your time of sorrow.

JR was a kind, loving and friendly man who was a friend to everyone. He never met a stranger. Everywhere we would go, whether it be a restaurant, the store, the fair, he would always run into someone he knew. Some people called him JR, others referred to him as Junior and to my kids he was known as Junior Pop. He has been a very special part of our lives for the last 22 years as a father to my husband and I and more importantly as a grandfather to my children. We have made many special memories with Junior Pop throughout the years. He was outside the delivery room when I gave birth to my children and from that moment on they adored him. Rhett and Brooklyn loved their Junior Pop and the time they spent with him. He attended their soccer and basketball games and of course captured all of their memories in photos. Being they were both guys, Rhett and Junior Pop had a special bond and were buddies from the start. They rode tractors and 4 wheelers, went crabbing and played in the dirt. Everyone knew that JR could build anything and fix everything. He had an eye for detail and was a perfectionist. He had many talents. Junior Pop and Rhett spent hours building his pinewood derby car each year for cub scouts. They were most proud of the police car Junior Pop designed that won "Best Craftsmanship". As a family, we made many memories over the holidays, birthday celebrations, Sunday dinners and a few Florida Vacations together. Some of our best memories were made at the Delaware State Fair. Junior Pop was one of the only people, who like us, loved hanging at the state fair everyday. If you ever needed to find Junior Pop the last 10 days of July, he could be found walking around the fair and socializing with friends he had not seen in awhile. Junior Pop was loved by all. He will be greatly missed and will live on forever in our hearts and memories.

Our thoughts and prayers are with JR's family at this difficult time. JR was our neighbor and close friend. We saw him almost everyday. He always greeted us with a smile. He was always there to help and guide us with home projects and our family spent many good times with him at his home and ours. We will miss him very, very much, but we will always cherish the times we spent together. We are so happy to have known this kind, sweet man.

JR as we knew him was friend and often shared our lives with friendship, help and support. We will remember him and his kindness and by his photos of us and our family. It was difficult seeing him in his suffering for so long. May he receive his reward of pain free peace. You will be missed.

I was so sorry to hear of Jr's passing. I worked with him at USDA RD prior to my retirement. Jr. was always professional and quick to share his vast knowledge of all things regarding construction. May God reward him for all his good deeds and console family and friends at this most difficult time.

Jr was part of the Golden Family for many years. He was family to us and celebrated bar b-q and holiday functions with us. I remember how much he loved taking photo's of everyone. He became junior pop to Rhett and Brooklyn and like an Uncle to my boys Logan and Steffan. He was a little man with a big heart who touched all of our hearts and will never be forgotten.

Hello, and prayers from me for JR and all family and friends. I worked with JR in the mid and late 90's. He was always quick with a funny quip at the same time he would be zeroing in on every construction detail that needed to be addressed. He had an amazing eye for the details of anything being built. But anyone reading this no doubt knows that. Condolences, God Bless.

I worked with Jr when he first got out of the service at UL Harman's in Marydel and have had the pleasure of seeing him as an inspector for RD on many of our developments. His attention to detail was always appreciated by the lenders if not the contractors! My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones.
