Bonnie Frances (Emswiler) Wagner

DOVER — Bonnie Frances (Emswiler) Wagner passed away on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017 at Cadia Dover Nursing Home in Dover. She was 87 years old and died following a five year battle with dementia.

Ms. Wagner was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on Oct. 9, 1930, daughter of Mary and Arthur Brittain. She was one of nine children from this farming family. Ms. Wagner was the second youngest of nine children, six brothers and two sisters.

After a military transfer to Dover with her first husband George Emswiler and their three children in 1967, she began working at Sears Credit Department. Later, Ms. Wagner was hired at DAFB Civil Service as a scheduler. She spent 18 years at Civil Service, before retiring and remarrying Edward Wagner in 1986. In retirement, she soon found her passion as a private care CNA, providing care to homebound seniors.

Ms. Wagner loved being around people. Once widowed in 2010, she spent time with friends at the Frederica Senior Center where she enjoyed various activities, meals and the many trips offered.  She most loved singing to folks in assisted living centers and nursing homes.  She also enjoyed her time spent at Modern Maturity Center.  In addition, one of her favorite activities was attending Magnolia methodist Church.. Her hobbies included volunteering, reading, crossword puzzles, watching old TV shows and taking walks. She loved children and cherished her son and two daughters, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and siblings, she was preceded in death by her newborn twin daughter, Darlene Kay Emswiler, her first husband George Emswiler and late Edward Wagner.

She is survived by her son, David Emswiler (wife Margie); daughters, Doreen Webb (husband Bob) and Dianne Whitby (husband John); seven grandchildren, Emily (Whitby) Ball, Alicia (Emswiler) Mersiovsky, Doug Webb, Mattew Emswiler, Jay Whitby, Ronnie and Andy Webb; and five great granddaughters, Londyn and Lauren Emswiler, Paige Ball and Ainsley and Addison Mersiovsky; and two great grandsons, Hudson Ball and Brody Emswiler.

Services are private with viewing at Pippin Funeral Home and burial at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
