Marion “Midge” Lewis (nee Lehe) of Magnolia, died on Sunday, July 17, 2016 in Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care at Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 91.
She was born on January 22, 1925 in West Hoboken, New Jersey, daughter of the late Joseph Constant Lehe & Margaret Lehe (nee Kleinheinz).
Marion had worked as a telephone operator in Jersey City, NJ; girl Friday at John Runge window treatments in Cliffside Park, NJ, Wallnut’s (Wallpaper Store) as a bookkeeper in Tappan, NY & Acme Rivet Co. in Bristol, Ct as a bookkeeper among other jobs during her career.
She was an honor student and talented artist and craftsperson. Her magnetic personality made her a treasure to all who were part of her life. Her 80+ year friendship with her best friend Emily Hallberg of Toms River, NJ is a testament to the type of person she was.
After living most of her life in different towns in New Jersey she retired in 1988 to Sun City West, Arizona before moving to Delaware in 2002.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers Arthur, Robert and Joseph Lehe, and one sister Dolores Gerding.
Marion was married to John Alexander Lewis who passed away in 2007 after 62 years of marriage.
She is survived by her sons John & his wife Mary; Alan & his wife Helen; her daughter Debra Jeanne Rosko & her husband John; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step granddaughter’s; and many cousins; nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 22 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave. Wyoming, DE.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 23 at the funeral home, with a viewing one hour prior to service.
Burial will be private.
