Virginia Hickman was one special woman. She will be remembered by our family as one of the finest teachers our two sons ever had. We send our sympathy to her family.

Virginia was a wonderful person, a great friend, a fantastic teacher, and an inspiration to all of us whose lives she touched. Her students loved her and have such wonderful memories of being in her class. Loved our morning breakfasts once a week while we both taught at South Dover. Loved that we both moved on to William Henry. She has touched my heart forever.

I send my most sincere condolences. I worked with Virginia at William Henry Middle School, always admiring her work with her students. She made a very positive impression on me. I recall her beautiful smile, friendliness, patient manner, and love of her profession. I have since moved away from Dover after retiring myself in 2005, but I still recall those colleagues like Virginia who were such wonderful teachers! My sympathies to her family and loved ones.

Edgar, Kim, and Kelly - I am at a loss for words. She was such a sweet, wonderful person and I have so many fond memories of hanging out at your house, playing cards, and watching our kids (all grown up now, Kim, Kelly, Kristin, Andrew) play together outside. I am sorry I did not know in time to attend the service. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I was deeply saddened to read of Virginia's passing at such a young age. She and I taught together at South Dover, and I had great respect for her as a teacher and friend. She had a quiet, calming influence on her students, and was always very professional with a great sense of humor. My sincere sympathy to the family.

I am so very sorry to hear about Mrs. Hickman's passing. She was my all time favorite teacher. She taught me 3rd grade at South Dover. She was the sweetest lady and i know is now an angel looking down on all of you!

We are all miles apart, but please know our thoughts and prayers are with you. There are no words that can express our sorrow. A precious soul that was a wonderful daughter, sister, teacher, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt/great aunt, and cousin. Virginia was so admired and loved by many. She will be missed.
