Tonya (Sissy) D. Berry, of Milford, DE went home to be with the Lord, on January 27, 2015 at the age of 47. Tonya was born on December 12, 1967 in Wilmington, Delaware.  She was preceded in death by her dad, Thomas Berry, and her grandmother, Freda Mae Vonville.

Tonya attended Temple Christian School. She grew up in the church, and loved to sing and worship the Lord. Tonya lived her entire life the way she felt God wanted. Tonya was true and faithful to her religion and lived her life accordingly. She loved to laugh; her humor and bright lovely smile were infectious. Tonya enjoyed reading, clipping coupons (especially for Kohl’s!), going to the movies, listening to music, Christian concerts, Radio City Music Hall, writing plays for the Modern Maturity Center Dinner Theater and shopping for the best deals in town. She had a zestful love for life, and lived her life to the fullest. Above all, Tonya will be remembered as an amazing, loving Mom to her children, a loving daughter, a caring sibling and true friend.

For several years, Tonya worked as an insurance agent until returning to college to pursue her lifelong dream of teaching. On Sunday, January 25, 2015, before her passing, she achieved that dream, graduating with honors from Wilmington University with a perfect 4.0 GPA, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.

Tonya is survived by her mother, Sheila Tharp; step-mother, Mercy Kramer; her son, Kyle Maloney; daughter, Lauren Maloney and her fiancée Buddy Story; boyfriend Alex Becton; siblings, Donna Handwerk, Laurie Mallow, Crystal Berry Sheets, Thomas Berry, Robert Berry, and Mindy Berry; her aunt Paula who was like a sister; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, students, and a large circle of friends.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 3, 2014, at Pippin Funeral Home. Friends may gather two hours prior. Burial will follow services at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Sandtown, DE.
