Welcome to the memorial page for

Thomas Vanderbilt Allen Jr.

June 18, 1960 ~ April 15, 2016 (age 55) 55 Years Old

Thomas V. “Kip” Allen Jr. was born in Altus, Oklahoma on June 18, 1960, to Hettie O. Allen and the late Thomas V. Allen, Sr. He unexpectedly departed this life on April 15, 2016, at the age of 55. Being a military child, he lived in Ohio, New Jersey, and Bermuda before his family settled in Dover, De.

Thomas attended school on the Dover Air Force Base, graduating from Dover AFB High School in 1979. Always being good with his hands, he became a talented and skilled tradesman. He was an avid gardener and maintained a large garden yearly. He enjoyed sharing the home-grown produce with family and friends.  In addition to gardening, he was a master on charcoal grill, always making the best BBQ ribs and chicken. Thomas enjoyed fishing, tinkering in the garage, and kicking back listening to a variety of music. He also found joy when he attended The Pentecostals of Dover’s worship services and men’s groups.

Thomas was very proud of his children and loved his role as a pop-pop. He was a loving caregiver and companion to his longtime “wifey”.  Thomas was a free spirit and loved by many. His familiar laugh could be recognized instantly and will live on in the memories of all who heard it.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Hettie O. Allen of Dover; his son Christopher L. Allen of Dover; his daughter Lauren (Hettinger) Durk and her husband John, of Dover; his granddaughter Tia L. Keeler of Dover; his brother Ralph C. Allen (Joan Spillane) and his nephew Ralph C. Allen II and his niece Maria D. Allen, all of dover; his two uncles, Rev. Albert Allen of Houston, TX and Dennis M. White of Farmville, VA; his six aunts,  Ruth W. Watkins of Farmville, VA, Myrlin Harrington of Hayward, CA, Donzella V. White of Centreville, MD, Deborah W. Jackson, and Beatrice L. White of Farmville, VA, and Zelda Branch of Elizabeth, NJ; his significant other Linda D’Angelo and her two daughters Jill Sussman and Beth Blank, all of dover; and a host of cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church 410 Queen St. Dover where friends may visit after 1:00pm. Online condolences may be sent to pippinfuneralhome.com
