Welcome to the memorial page for

Noriko Palms

March 7, 1942 ~ March 10, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Noriko Palms was awarded her wings to Heaven on March 10, 2017 while at Kent General Hospital, three days after her birthday.  She was surrounded by her daughter, Pastor John Bowman of Calvary Assembly of God, her grandchildren and their father.

Foremost, the Family extends their deepest appreciation and the utmost gratitude to the staff at KGH Emergency Room for their tireless efforts, care and support; including her extended families, friends, Pippin Funeral Home representative Duwayne Casini and Walmart.

Mrs. Palms is survived by her daughter, Julia Noriko Palms; grandchildren Laynee M. Noriko Ford and Cassius Julian Ford and their father, Dwayne E. Ford; niece Haruko Fogman, brother-in-law Wardell Palms and his son Wardell, Jr., Devon Palms-son of the late brother-in-law, Lloyd Palms, Ms. Virginia Ford, Cynthia Ford, Donna Strother, the Miller Family and a host of friends who cared for her dearly.

Born as a Sato in Hokkaido, Japan, Noriko grew up with two siblings, the late sister, Sumiko and the late brother, Toshimasa and their parents.  Noriko had a fruitful life.  Her mother was educated and had a high interest in the arts.  Her father was a stockbroker and investor.  She grew up with a Catholic education and received her college degrees from Tamagawa and Heian (St. Agnes) Universities and taught Pre-K through school aged Japanese children.

Later, Noriko was so successful with her modeling career that she became an owner and directed numerous shows throughout Japan, through TV shows, major events and magazines.

During this time she married Freddy R. Palms and eventually moved to the United States.  Noriko supported her husband with his Air Force military career and attained her Naturalization Citizenship.  She began to utilize her abilities by self-employing herself with piano, modeling, painting, teaching Japanese to the various bases they were stationed to, which she enjoyed immensely.  Noriko balanced her work style to dedicate herself to her daughter and husband.  She also passed down her talents to her daughter, ensuring an appreciation for the arts and education.  She did the same for her grandchildren, and had successfully passed her commitments to her family and to her husband who passed away on March 22, 2002, with Military Honor.

Most recently, Mrs. Palms taught at the Precious Moments Education and Community Center.  She taught piano at both Calvary Assembly of God and Parks and Recreation, she taught modeling, piano as well as before and after school at the Dover Air Force Base and a teacher’s assistant at Kids-R-Us Learning Center.  She also volunteered for the Osher Life Long Institute and other overseas bases.
