Linda, so sorry to learn of your fathers passing. It's so hard to loose a parent, but when both are gone there is a chapter of your life that has ended too. Thinking of you and remembering our childhood memories. We had many. Prayers for you and your family. Paul and Lynn Tustin Thornburg

Dear Garthwaite family and all of its extensions: I am sorry to see that John has passed away. I worked for him for a couple of years at the Realty during the mid-80s, and he and Dottie were always so nice to me – in addition to being patient – and I’m sure you still miss her, too. As Delaware’s small world would have it, I see that Scott T has married into the Garthwaite family; I had worked for Scott’s dad some years following my real estate career. My condolences go out to all of you. Some things John G taught me in my brief time working with him remain with me to this day and I try to pass them along. He was a very nice man in addition to being a very smart one.

This man that I was lucky enough to call my grandfather taught me how to garden, fish (even when I didn't want to), all about history, and a lot more about love. Along with my grandmother, he nurtured and taught my daughter for six years while I worked, so that she did not have to be placed in daycare. He cared for my grandmother for two years when she was ill. He never complained. Life will simply not be the same without him. Until we meet again...with love from your "rose"

On behalf of the Eastern Shore Bassmasters of Delaware, we wish to extend our condolences to the Garthwaite family! John was a member with us back when we started around 2007-2010. We'll never forget his first win as he pushed through the day after hitting a stump in the water and falling in...his story anyway. He was a great member and we were happy to have shared some of those experiences with him. I hope you find comfort during this difficult time of the great memories he left behind! Tight Lines John!
