I am so sorry to hear of Dorothy's passing. We were not informed of this or we would have been there to show our respects. Thank you Dorothy for being a wonderful cousin to me all these years. I spent many hours with Debbie playing Barbies, and listening to records. I will miss you.

I remember Mrs. Powell as a beautiful lady. She loved working in her yard and always kept a lovely home. Living next door to her as a child, I would watch as she put hours into her flowerbeds. Not a weed was among all those petunias and marigolds. Mrs. Powell would ask me to water those beautiful flowers when she left for vacation. She even paid me too. She also found enjoyment in cutting grass. You can't say that about too many people.

I have very fond memories of vacationing with her and her family at Broadkill Beach. The family would share a couple of days with my sister and I. Along with Debbie, we would swim, collect shells from the sandbars, and hang out at the store. One time I prayed that I would have the knotty pine walls in my home that made the beach cottage so comfortable. And guess what, I do. My den is made up of knotty pine that I will never take down or paint over.

Yes, Mrs. Powell did have an influence on my life. Just like her I enjoy cutting grass, working in the yard planting flowers and landscaping. My home isn't quite as neat as I remember hers being but it's close. I don't live far from Broadkill Beach. It seemed like it took forever to drive there as a child. Recently my husband and I tried to find the Powell's beach house, but Broadkill has grown and I didn't find that cottage that held so many good memories for me.

Though we lost touch over the years, I can honestly say that Mrs. Powell was used to instill good things into my life. She will be missed.

What a wonderful privilege it has been for me to be Dottie's hairdresser and friend over the years. She was always so thoughtful and generous. She loved to take about her family and I could always tell how much she love all of you. I know it will be hard without her, I am so glad you have such beautiful memories to help you though.
