Don G. Franklin, of Dover, Delaware departed this life on Thursday, November 20, 2014, after a long illness.  He was 53 years old.  Don was born on August 29, 1961, in Dover, to John and Dorothy Franklin.

Don was prepared to enter into God’s Kingdom.  His soul was right with God.  Don started reading fluently shortly after turning two years old.  The bigger the words, the better he read them.  He graduated from Dover High School with honors.  He excelled in math and was a member of the math club.  After graduation, he attended the University of Delaware.  While at the University, he worked at various jobs to supplement his scholarships.  Later he worked for the Bank of America, and AT&T as a supervisor.  He was very skilled in many areas and could assemble or fix most anything.  Don loved all kinds of music, but was especially fond of Gospel.  He loved animals and was saddened when his dogs Alfie and Sheba preceded him in death.  He loved to play chess, but often had difficulty finding a chess partner.  Don had a deep love for family.  He had a large group of friends, and was overjoyed when family or friends came to visit for holiday dinners or outings.  Don loved life.  He helped others throughout his life and volunteered at various organizations.  Don was a very spiritual and caring person.  He regularly attended services at Chapel 2 at Dover Air Force Base, and other local churches.  He was dearly loved by so many family members and friends.  Don leaves behind to cherish his memories his parents John B. and Dorothy L. Franklin, a brother Gerald E. Franklin, his uncles William A. Palmer, Jr. (Ruth), Walter Franklin (Dianne), Hubert Franklin (Ilona), Isaac Franklin, his Aunts, Sarah Wilson (Eddie), Doretha Solomon (John), Eleanor Williams and Vandoloa Brown (Vernon) and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.  Don will be greatly missed by everyone whom he touched.
