Alfredia C (Chester) Fountain

Alfredia Fountain departed this life at home on Sunday, October 15, 2017.

Alfredia Fountain was born on December 29, 1924 in Baltimore, Maryland.  She was raised in Cambridge, Maryland where she graduated from F.D. St. Clair High School in 1940.  She graduated from Delaware State College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education.  She was an elementary school teacher for over 38 years specializing with the 2nd graders.

Alfredia was a loyal member of the Elks for over 50 years, a member of Club 13 and a member of the Eastern Stars.  Alfredia was a devoted member of St. Paul U.M. Church where she served on the finance committee for many years.

Alfredia was preceded in death by her parents Garfield Chester and Amelia Stanley Chester, husband, the love of her life, William (Penn) Fountain, two sisters Clara and Esther and one brother Benjamin.

She leaves to cherish her memories her son Reginald D. Fountain, devoted daughter-in-law Janice L. Fountain, grandchildren Tia Charise Fountain, Westley Phillip Fountain and Parren Douglas Fountain, great grandchildren Sabria Elizabeth Anne Fountain, Kyla Elise Thomas and Jayda Anya Marshall, nephews Franklin Fountain and family and Charles Hammond and family, nieces Benita Flye (Barry) and Brittany, Gloria Faye Bell & Karen Boone, and Darryl Fountain; and nephews Wilson and Scott, special friend and caregiver Denise Russ, Songbird Evelyn E. Travis, special friend Dorothy Daniels, traveling buddies Catherine Fountain, Margaret Hinson and Jackie Watson, longtime companion (T.P.) Naomi Young and special friend, a host of cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, condolences and phone calls.

Funeral Service Saturday 1 pm at Mt. Enon Baptist Church, 600 N. Church Ave., Milford, DE.  Friends may call beginning at 11 am.  Interment Milford Community Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Delaware State University in her memory.
