William Justin (Bill) Georges, 70, died Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Hospice in Milford, Delaware, following a years-long battle with cancer.
Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, he graduated from Dover High School in 1968, and attended Delaware State College for two years. After several interim jobs, he began work in 1973 for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad, and spent 37 years there, retiring in 2010. He began that career as a brakeman, working his way up to conductor.
He married Sandie (Bryan) in 1981, and helped raise her children, Susan and Scottie; he then spent many years as a foster parent to newborns too numerous to mention. He and Sandie adopted two of those newborns, Josh and Rachael, as their own.
Bill was a loving father, brother, husband, uncle, grandfather, and provider for his family. His family was his world. He also enjoyed sharing the road on his many motorcycles - another lifelong passion.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Bill Georges of Dover, Delaware, and is survived by his wife Sandie, and their children Joshua and Rachael Georges, Joshua’s partner Lauren, and their son, Grayson, his stepchildren - Susan Bryan Shergalis of New Jersey, and Scott Bryan of San Francisco, his grandson Jack; his three sisters: Linda Burdick of Dover, Delaware, Janet Lacey of Roswell, Georgia, Joyce Giguere of North Smithfield, Rhode Island, and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony for Bill during the family reunion week this summer.
