William Harvey Gore

William Harvey Gore, age 83 of Dover, passed away June 3, 2026, at Bayhealth Kent Campus.  

Born February 18, 1943, in Cambridge, Maryland, to the late Robert Gore, Sr. and Louise (Layton) Gore, Harvey grew up in the small town of Linkwood, Maryland, attended Academy Elementary School and Middle School and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1961.  He played baseball and basketball in Jr. and High School.  

He was baptized at Salem Methodist Church, Salem, Maryland in 1953 and attended Grace United Methodist Church in Cambridge, Maryland after his marriage to Phyllis.  He later transferred his membership and joined Wyoming United Methodist Church, where he was active as an usher.  

Harvey served in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965.  After service, he worked at EI DuPont in Seaford, Delaware from 1965-1970.  He started work with Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company on April 27, 1970, as an agent for P. Wyane Todd.  In 1984, he was promoted to Staff Manager in Salisbury, Maryland.  In 1989 he was promoted to District Manager in Dover, Delaware.  He retired on December 31, 2000.

Harvey enjoyed spending time with his late wife Phyllis, working in the yard, birdwatching, and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins & Vikings.  He enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren.  Harvey also served as an usher, worked at the food pantry and was security watch at Wyoming United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by the love of his life, Phyllis (Marshall) Gore. 

Harvey leaves behind two sons, Steven H. Gore and his wife Stephanie of Delaware and William Brian Gore of New Jersey; Grandchildren, Nathan H. Gore, Trever S. Gore and Leyna G. Gore; Brother Ronald H. Gore of New Market, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
