Warner Schlaupitz Obituary

Warner Herman Schlaupitz, 100, passed away on March 2, 2024.

Warner Schlaupitz was born on April 8th, 1923, in Konradstahl, Germany to Martha (Bader) Schlaupitz and Conrad Schlaupitz. His father migrated in 1925 and earned money to bring family over to U.S. His mother, brother and he arrived in Hoboken N.J. in 1927. His dad obtained employment in the auto industry in Detroit, Michigan and he lived there for several years. Later he moved to a coal mining town, Lincoln Hill near, Washington, Pa and his father worked in the coal mine. Eventually, him and his family moved to another coal mining town of Muse, Pa. While living in Muse, he worked in a company store, while earning his high school education. After graduation he began working at the coal mines with his dad to help support the family. In February 1941, Warner was drafted into the army where he fought in the Asiatic/Pacific Theater, in the infantry, and was discharged in the later part of December 1945. He then took advantage of the G.I. Bill and attended college graduating in 1950 with three majors, Business, Administration, Teaching and German. Taught school for two years and later decided to become employed in industry. He retired from Playtex Co.

Warner was a part of various Veterans organizations; American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Military Order of The Purple Heart, and Disabled American Veterans

He is preceded in death by his wife Doris E (Fassel) Schlaupitz, and his brother Hans Conrad.

He leaves to cherish his memories; Warner (Kip) Schlaupitz (Laura)- Dover, DE, Marcia Messina (Anthony)-Laconia, NH, Cheryl Arsenault- Muncie, IN, Annette Wideman (caretaker)-Dover, DE and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Warner will take place on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 12:00pm at Pippin Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at 10:30.  The graveside for Warner will take place at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers you can donate to any Veterans organizations of your choice; American Veterans (AM Vets), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Military Order of The Purple Heart (MOPH), or Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
