Walter “Buddy” Abrams, Jr. completed his life after 86 years on May 30, 2025 at home surrounded by family in Camden, Delaware. Walter passed away peacefully after putting up a great fight and he always kept his faith. Walter was born on January 23, 1939 in Dover, Delaware to the late Walter Abrams, Sr. and Helen Benson Abrams. Walter attended Paul Lawrence Dunbar and Booker T. Washington School of Dover, Delaware. Walter was employed at Delaware State University for 36 years as a security officer. After he retired, he started working with Jim Webb Paving. Walter enjoyed fishing, gardening, riding motorcycles and driving his green Chevy. He enjoyed sitting outside under the tree drinking a cold one with his friends.
Walter was preceded in death by his father Walter, Sr. and mother Helen Benson Abrams: his son Troy: and sister Mary Lo Johns. Walter leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 39 years Alethea Abrams; sons Sheldon (Almedia), Anthony (Marge), Lex (Shannon), Nathaniel (Kym); daughter Desiree; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 Godsons: Tyrone, Elmer and Ronald Clark; his sister Marie Sanders; five brothers in law: Robert Jr. (Marilyn), Grayling (Frances), Wayne (Beth), Robert Lee and Willie Cason; sister in law Sandra Cason; niece Margaret Ann Abrams; a special cousin,Nate Benson; friend Jeff Hettinger; and a host of cousins and friends.
A funeral service for Walter will take place on Tuesday, June 10 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 The family will receive friends one hour prior. Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
