Walter Henry Price, 92, Widower, cherished Father and Grandfather transitioned into his spirit body on January 14, 2024 after months of a debilitating illness. Born in Dover Delaware on May 4, 1931 he moved to Paterson, NJ where he met and married his lovely wife on October 20, 1953...he resided in Hackensack for the majority of the 66 years he was married during which time he helped raise three wonderful children.
He worked at Dublin Plant in Paterson, NJ for many years before moving to Hackensack, at which time he began working for the Post Office. He retired from there and moved back to his hometown of Dover, Delaware upon retirement to live out his remaining years. Walter loved Classical music and Jazz, he was an avid reader of the NY times and enjoyed doing the puzzles (in ink) in his spare time. He enjoyed Football, watching comedy sitcoms like The Cosby show, Seinfeld and other entertaining and educational shows. On any given Sunday you would find him sitting in his living room, glasses on his nose, listening to Jazz and reading his paper... and any day of the week you will definitely find him at his favorite Dunkin Donuts, sitting in his car, sipping his coffee, people watching, and, yes, reading his paper! His leisure time was also spent sitting on his favorite bench at Silver Lake enjoying the peacefulness of the view, and listening to the rippling of the water. He was a very conventional man and lived a mild, simple life. Those who knew him were often entertained by his intellect, his articulate way of speaking, his sense of humor and his conversation and his laid back persona. He was often complimented on his "Gentlemanly" style of dress as well Some would even consider his style for being that of a "dapper" one.
In addition to both of his parents, Zella and Robert Price:, Mr. Price was preceded in death by his sisters: Jeanette Price McCoy, Nancy M. Price Tate, Thelma Mosley, his brother Rankin Mosley, his daughter, Iris Ursula Carter and his grandson Aaron Walter Quince Price. He is survived by his three sisters; Shirley Young, Regina B, Price Scott, Nora Mosley, and two brothers; Tony, and Aquilla Mosley. His children, Renee Angela Arkadie, and Edith Alllean Rosalynn Evans, his Sons in law; Edward Dexter Arkadie, and Larry Evans; his grandchildren, Ryan Walter Arkadie, Cody Dexter Arkadie, Chelsea Elora Renee Arkadie and Garon Aallen Nickholaus Trey Carter. Also, his great grandchildren: Zadig Ali Carter (Ziggy) and Zamir Carter (Za).
Mr. Price was well loved, lived a fulfilled life and will be missed tremendously. He does leave behind many who will mourn him from his many relatives and friends. We commend his soul to the Creator and take solace in knowing he is with his beloved wife and is finally at peace.
