Walter N. Gustavson

     Walter N. Gustavson departed this world, June 10, 2026 at Kent General Hospital after a long battle of Alzheimer’s.

     He was born Walter Norman Gustavson on June 17, 1948 in Everett, Massachusetts to the late Norman Joseph and Virginia Slominski Gustavson.

     Walter moved to Fort Meyers, Florida in 1963.  He attended North Fort Meyers High School, graduating in 1967.  He then went to college for three years earning an AA Degree. 

     He was then drafted into the service on March 29, 1971 and was sent to Vietnam on March 24, 1972-February 13, 1973.  He received from General Fred Weyand The Army Commendation Medal and Citation for Performance of exceptionally Meritorious Service.

     Walter worked at Playtex for almost 40 years in the Quality Control Lab as Senior Quality Control Inspector.  He retired at the age of 65 to enjoy his hobbies to include comics, stamp and coin collecting.

     He is survived by his loving, devoted wife, Gwyn R. Gustavson, loving sister, Jean Biggs, brothers-in-law Glen Jones and his spouse Jennifer, Grant Jones and his spouse Cindy, Greg Jones and his partner Marty Brozena, Gary Jones and his spouse Nance and Gene Jones, Jr. and partner Faye Collins, nieces and spouses, Brittany Ward and spouse Jon, Shannon Carrier and spouse Chris, Lauren Allaband and spouse Bryan, Sydney Nicastro and spouse Adam, Camryn Jones and fiancée Jack Furey; nephew Mark Jones and his spouse Lindsay; nephews William Jones, Tim Jones, Daniel Morton and Emmett Ward; nieces Kaelyn and Madelyn Allaband, Audrey Evans, Ava Shockley, Kendall Jones and Jennifer Mulligen; sister-in-law Ginny Evans, dearest Aunt Beryl Bork, devoted cousins and dear friends. 

     Memorial service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2026 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 West Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware, where friends may gather one hour earlier.  Burial will be private.

     In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations can be made to Delaware Vietnam Veterans Chapter.
