Vernon K Abrams, of Dover, went home to be with his Lord on January 13, 2023 at the age of 90. He was born in Bay View Maryland, on February 18, 1932 to the late Harry E Abrams Jr. and Rebecca (Becky Dennison) Abrams. The family moved to Stanton, Delaware in 1939.
Vernon was a graduate of Conrad High School, class of 1950. He was a veteran of the Korean War and proudly served as a Sergeant in U.S. Army Medical Corp, 3rd Division, 7th Infantry Regiment.
Vernon was a house painter by trade, crane operator and carpenter. Vernon retired at the age of 85. Throughout his life, he enjoyed bowling, playing golf and watching all sports, as long as it had a ball in the game. He was a die-hard Phillies, Yankee, and Eagles fan. He enjoyed horseracing and playing the slots
He attended St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Stanton, and Three Stones Church in Dover, Delaware.
In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by sister - Sharon Ann, brothers - Charles, William and Norman.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Abrams, sons Brian Abrams (Wendy), Charles McCall (Debbie), and Kenneth McCall; grandchildren Erica Dempsey (James). Philip Abrams, Becky Starkey (James), Charlie McCall (Meghan), Cliff McCall (Erin), Ben McCall (Nicole) and Shannon McCall; 15 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, January 27, 2023 at Limestone Presbyterian Church, 3201 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808 where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Friday. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle. Kindly omit flowers.
