Teresa Hitchens-Abrams, 63, of Dover Delaware passed away on February 25, 2026.
Born on January 11, 1963 in Laurel, Delaware, she was the beloved daughter of Theodore Sr. and Ardella Hitchens. She is survived by her siblings Felicia, Terrence Thomas, and Rodney Hitchens and was preceded in death by her brother, Theodore Jr. Teresa, with her daughter Natalie, and ex husband Rodney Abrams, built a loving family, leaving to cherish her memory: Rodney, Isaiah, Makaliah and her adopted niece, Chelsea. She also has six grandchildren: Aninda, Katrail, Raniya, Donnell, Alkeem, Little Isaiah and two great-grandchildren.
She attended Laurel High School (1978–1981) and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Delaware State University (1981–1985). Post grad, she dedicated over 30 years of service to the Department of Corrections, where she was known for her strength, professionalism, and commitment.
A woman of deep faith, Teresa was devoted to her church, faithfully singing in the choir and serving wherever she was needed. She will be lovingly remembered for cheering loudly for her athletic son, decorating her home each Christmas season, and preparing her famous 7-cheese macaroni and cheese that brought everyone together. She cherished spending long hours playing with her youngest grandson who says he misses her dearly and had a remarkable gift for making entire rooms feel full and joyful with her contagious laughter.
Teresa’s life was a celebration of love, joy, and faith. She had a unique ability to touch the hearts of everyone she met, to bring light to ordinary moments, and to leave a lasting impression of warmth and kindness. Though she will be deeply missed, her laughter, her love, and the memories she created will continue to inspire and comfort her family and all who were blessed to know her.
A funeral service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 where there will be a viewing from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.
