Tricia Carpenter Obituary

Tricia Dawn Carpenter, a true free spirit who lived life unapologetically and to the fullest, passed away on January 9, 2026, in Dover, Delaware. She was 55 years old.

Born on January 4, 1971 in Wilmington, Delaware, Tricia’s story began with a profound act of love. She was adopted by her parents when she was just a few days old, and to say they were over the moon would be an understatement. She was the light they had been waiting for, the spark that ignited what would become a large and boisterous family.

She grew up with a deep admiration for the two people who chose her. She saw her mother as a saint—a strong, creative woman who moved through the world with grace. And she revered her father—the fierce patriarch who could fix absolutely anything. It was within the safety of their love that Tricia learned how to be the person we all knew and loved.

Tricia grew up as a proud "military brat." This upbringing instilled in her a sense of adventure, taking her family across the United States and overseas to destinations like Germany and Paris. While she loved to travel, her favorite place on earth was always the beach. Many summers spent there with family and friends.

Tricia’s life was defined by her compassion for others. Her first love was animals, which led her to own and operate an animal rescue shelter. Later in life, she channeled her nurturing nature into a career in healthcare. After earning her degree, she worked as an ECG specialist for several doctors throughout the Delaware area, where she was known for her dedication to caring for patients.

To know Tricia was to know someone who didn’t care what the world thought—she lived life on her own terms. She was an artist at heart who loved creating beauty and experiencing it. She found joy in baking, recreating her mother’s classic recipes while inventing her own. Her specialty was Swedish pot roast and Enchiladas aka “La la’s”. She loved music, going to concerts; her favorites being Kiss and Journey. She recently found a new passion with tattoos and will certainly bring a colorful glow to Heaven. Her sense of humor and inside jokes with friends and family will be greatly missed.

Tricia was a celebration of life itself. She loved attending parties, but she loved throwing them even more. Whether for a birthday, an anniversary, or just because, she went all out to celebrate the people she loved. She raised her kids on festive holiday parties and spread that happiness throughout her time on earth.

Above all else, she was defined by her devotion to her family. She loved them more than life itself. She was constantly going out of her way to check on everyone, making sure they were cared for and had exactly what they needed. She would do any and everything for her kids. She raised them on Aerosmith, happiness, and countless trips to Toys "R" Us. Friday nights were strictly for Blockbuster, picking out new movies and candy. Her children weren’t just a part of her life; they were truly her heart.

She will be deeply missed by her father, Michael Carpenter; her sister, Kimberly Carpenter; her three children, Thomas, Anthony, and Tabitha Carpenter; and her beloved grandchildren, Sophia Gerontakos and Lily Carpenter. Tricia is now reunited with her mother, Joan Carpenter; her grandmother, Margaret Phillips; and her uncle, Richard Lyon, who passed before her.

A memorial service to celebrate Tricia's life will be held at Woodside United Methodist Church on February 8th 2026 at 1pm with a reception to follow.
