Susan L. Little

Susan L. Little, 62, of Dover, Delaware, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, surrounded by the loving care of her niece, Cierra Hurley, and hospice, after a courageous battle with stage 4 cancer. Born in Dover, Delaware, on May 3, 1964, Susan lived a life defined by love, strength, laughter, and devotion to her family.

Susan was a devoted homemaker and a loving wife to her husband of 29 years, the late Irvin W. Little Jr., affectionately known as Mickey, who served in the Navy and preceded her in death on January 3, 2026. Throughout her life, she also worked in clerical positions and practiced nursing, always carrying a spirit of service and compassion in everything she did.

Susan was known for her lively personality, her witty sense of humor, and her signature “girls just wanna have fun” attitude. Even during difficult times, she had a way of making others laugh. When she returned home from the hospital, her first words were often, “Let’s party!” — a reflection of the joy and spark she brought to those around her.

She deeply cherished time with her family, especially her sister Connie Hurley, with whom she shared countless memories of shopping, candles, NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt Jr., and creating crafts for their children. Susan had a special love for Yankee Candles and amassed a collection of more than 300 candles over the years, each one a reflection of the warmth and comfort she brought into her home and into the lives of those around her. She also had a fond love for Siamese cats and enjoyed the companionship they brought her. Christmas was one of her favorite times of year, and she loved making beautiful memories during the holiday season with the people she held dear. She found comfort in being surrounded by the love of her family in her final days, and her son traveled from Ohio on the day she passed so he could be with her and make that moment especially meaningful.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Lex Miller and Betty Miller; her siblings David Miller, Deborah A. Clay, and Connie Hurley; and her husband, Irvin W. Little Jr., who passed away on January 3, 2026. She also leaves behind her stepbrother, Robert Masten, whom she loved deeply.

She is survived by her children: Faron W. Marshall Jr. of Westlake, Ohio; Brandon M. Marshall of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania; and Christine M. Marshall of Dover, Delaware. Susan shared an especially close bond with her beloved niece, Cierra Hurley, who was the closest thing to a daughter and provided loving care in her final days.

Grandchildren:

Susan was a proud and loving grandmother to Andria Marshall and Cali Marshall, who brought her great joy. She loved watching them stay active in sports and band, and she treasured the custom drawings and pictures they made just for her. Some of her happiest memories were the simple and special outings they shared, including trips for ice cream with their grandfather and grandmother.

Great-Nieces and Nephew:

Susan was also deeply loved by her great-nieces and nephew, Anasia Stevens, Ashanti Stevens, and Aaron Stevens Jr. (AJ), children of Cierra Hurley, who brought comfort and tenderness to her final days and surrounded her with love and care as she neared the end of her life. Also by her side was Cedes, her beloved Yorkie, who became especially close to Aunt Susan and shared her bedside with gentle companionship and upbeat spirit.

The family would like to thank Susan’s friends Beverly Porter and Ann Apple for their loving support, helping hands, and willingness to assist or take Aunt Susan out whenever needed.

Susan was the heart of her family — a keeper of memories, traditions, and family history. She treasured keepsakes, passed down knowledge to younger generations, and remained the last survivor of the older generation, carrying the stories and love of those who came before her. She loved rock music, especially Lynyrd Skynyrd, and was rarely seen without a cold Diet Pepsi nearby.

Susan will be remembered for her loyalty, her laughter, her love of family, and the way she embraced life with spirit and heart. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the many lives she touched.
