Steven McCullough, 64, of Wyoming, DE passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born October 30, 1959, at Kent General Hospital in Dover, DE. Steve’s life was marked by his commitment to his family and friends. He was a devoted father, husband, and friend. His home was a place of warmth and laughter where memories were made and cherished.
Steve and Ellen were married in 1997. Together they went on to have 6 children, Justin, Alexis, Connor, Charlie, Joseph, and Nathan. Steve shared his love of the outdoors with his children, and they have fond memories of fishing, camping, boating, swimming, hiking, playing soccer, riding four wheelers and the “mini” bike with their father. He was a very active and involved father, if he wasn’t working or renovating the house, he was spending time with his wife and children. Anyone that knew Steve would first and foremost describe him as an amazing dad.
In Steve’s later years, especially over the last eight years, him and his family were confronted with the diagnosis of Early Onset Alzheimer’s. While his journey with the illness was heartbreaking and sometimes difficult there were also moments of unconditional love. We could still see Steve enjoy his love of outdoors every time we took him outside, he would close his eyes, put his head back in the sun smile and take a deep breath of the fresh air. Although his smiles became less and less frequent when we could coax one out of him, usually with the “chicken” joke, his smile still lit up the room.
Steve may have left this world, but his spirit lives on in each of his 6 incredible children. The family will honor the life of their beloved privately. We appreciate your support and condolences.
