Stanley Joseph Kaminski, age 74, of Smyrna, DE, passed away on February 11, 2018 from complications of Alzheimer’s.
Stanley was born on August 18, 1943 in Wilmington, Delaware where he spent his childhood. He was affectionately referred to as “Pinky” by family and friends. This nickname came about after three- year old Stanley mispronounced his own last name to a police officer after wandering away from his parents.
After graduating High School, Stanley joined the United States Navy where he proudly served for two years. Stanley often spoke of his love for the Navy and how much he enjoyed travelling the world. The highlight of his enlistment was his time spent in Naples, Italy; where in typical Stanley fashion, he ran into a friend from High School on the street. This set the tone for the rest of his life because no matter where Stanley went he never met a stranger.
After the Navy, Stanley became a professional Truck Driver. Stanley worked many years for Anchor Motor Freight where he was a self-described “Automotive Relocation Technician” in Wilmington, Delaware before joining the team at Interstate Intermodal where he retired in 2007.
Stanley’s hobbies included; listening to music at ear drum decimating levels while his family tried to sleep, showing up way too early for events, and cheering for his beloved Green Bay Packers. Stanley was a devoted grandfather who never missed a play, recital, birthday party, or game. His passing will leave an unfillable void in our hearts.
Above all, Stanley was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Linda, his son Daniel and wife, Samara, and daughter, Amy, and six grandchildren, Shelby, Gabe, Jacob, Sophie, Mattea and Davin. He is also survived by countless family members and friends.
