Sidney G. Williams Jr. passed away peacefully at home with loved ones on Friday, Aug 1, 2025.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA in 1944 to Sidney Sr. and Elizabeth Williams.
Sid graduated from Williamstown High School in New Jersey and then attended Dobbins Technical School in Philadelphia, studying drafting. After various contractor roles, including design work of the Dover Downs Motor Speedway, he found his dream job as a draftsman at ILC Dover in 1970 where he worked with the Apollo Space Suit program team. His 44 years at ILC also included work on the Space Shuttle Suit, Skylab and International Space station work and supporting the Mars Pathfinder mission.
Sid had numerous hobbies which led to amazing friendships he held long and dear. Cars and all forms of racing were by far his greatest interest. His proudest possessions included a 1965 GTO, 1967 Corvette Stingray and a 1969 Corvette Stingray. He also enjoyed tennis, bowling, softball, bicycling, traveling, coaching various sports for his children, and serving as a Cub Scout den leader. He loved giving Space Suit demonstrations at schools for his children, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Sid’s passion revolved around his family, and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by Brenda, his wife of 37 years; his sons Ron Urbanski (Heidi), Jeff Williams (Rachel) and Thomas Williams (Heather) and seven grandchildren: Destiny Slother (David), Lanie and Rylie Urbanski, Sloane, Kerstynn, Graham and BrysonWilliams.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Robinson and his brother in law George Robinson.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 P.M Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Pippin Funeral Home,119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934 where friends may visit with the family between 10:00 A.M and and 12:00 P.M. Burial will be private.
