Sibylle Charlotte Ramminger (née Venohr), of Dover, Delaware, passed away on July 4, 2025. She was 83 years old.
Born on February 9, 1942, in Zinten, East Prussia, Sibylle’s early life was shaped by a rich cultural heritage, difficult turbulent times, and a deep appreciation for education.
She graduated from Albert Scweitzer Gymnasium, an academic secondary school in Offenbach, Germany, where she laid the foundation for her lifelong passion for languages and learning. Her pursuit of linguistic excellence led her to Paris, France, where she studied languages and further broadened her worldview. Sibylle began her professional career working at Rhein-Main Air Base in Germany. It was during this time that she met Wilfred J. Ramminger, with whom she would share a devoted marriage spanning 62 years. Together they built a life rooted in love, resilience, and shared purpose, a purpose that brought them both to Dover, Delaware.
After moving to the United States, Sibylle brought her talents and dedication to the field of education. She taught English as a second language in both the Caesar Rodney School District and the Milford School District in Delaware. Through her work, she touched the lives of countless students navigating new linguistic and cultural landscapes—offering not only instruction but also encouragement and understanding.
Sibylle found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved reading, knitting intricate patterns with care and patience, preparing delicious meals that brought people together around the table, browsing shops for thoughtful finds, and spending cherished moments by the sea. The beach held a special place in her heart—a place of peace and reflection.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 62 years, Wilfred J. Ramminger; her son Clifford E. Ramminger and Michelle; her daughter Natascha M. Ward and her husband John, and their family dog, Lilyana.
Sibylle was preceded in death by her mother Charlotte Erika Venohr; her father Erich Franz Ludwig Venohr; and her sister Regine Hallman.
A private funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, Sibylle would have appreciated contributions to Tunnel to Towers in her memory. May Sibylle’s memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
