Shirley Anna (Jerome) Smith

On March 8, 2025, Shirley A. Smith, aged 78, of Dover, DE, peacefully passed away in her sleep at home. Born on February 9, 1947, in Baltimore, MD, she was the cherished daughter of Richard and Bessy Jerome.

Shirley is survived by her devoted husband and best friend of 57 years, Vernon, and their loving children: son Robb Smith, with his fiancée Stephanie of Spring Grove, PA, and daughter Stephanie Seeney, with her husband Louis, of Viola, DE. She was the proud grandmother of Hannah and her spouse Alex, Jonathan, Kimberly, and Julianna, as well as the beloved great-grandmother of Faye and Rowyn, who brought immense joy to her life. Shirley will also be fondly remembered by her sisters, Joann Jerome and Betty Larrimore.

An enthusiastic quilter and traveler, Shirley shared a lifetime of adventures with Vernon. She was a member of the Beta Siga Phi Sorority. She touched countless lives as a dedicated teacher's aide, nurturing and inspiring the children she worked with. Known for her friendship, and radiant kindness, Shirley left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed by her family, many friends, and the community she loved so dearly.

A private memorial service will be held by the family.
