On the Twelfth of March 2026, Sharon Lee Gainer, 84, was reunited with the love of her life, Jere Gainer.
Sharon was born in Lancaster Co., Pa. She grew up in Gap and New Holland. Her immediate family was small, which included her parents and one brother, Barry Williams. However, they were a part of a larger close-knit circle of cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Sherry, as she was called, graduated from Garden Spot HS in 1960. In her senior yearbook, it was noted that she had a fabulous wardrobe and was neat as a pin. Those attributes would stay true throughout her life. After high school, she was employed as a secretary by New Holland Machine Co. She would move on to nurture her life's passion studying interior design at LaSalle University.
In 1962, she married her high school sweetheart, Jere. His Air Force career would take them all over the country while raising 3 children. Sherry excelled at homemaking. She provided home cooked meals, a spotless home, clean and pressed laundry, and a gentle kiss at bedtime. She took great pride in planning and maintaining unique interior and exterior designs. Sherry was known to create beautiful pieces of art on the walls of her homes, and her drawing skills were showcased in an art studio in downtown Dover.
Over the span of 40+ years, she loved on her church family at Southside Baptist Church through self-less acts of service, which included decorating and cleaning the facility, guiding and mentoring through MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), and by starting a food pantry.
In return, they showed their love by aiding in her care and well-being throughout her adult life.
Sherry will be remembered for her radiant smile, sharp wit, and loving heart.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jere, and their 2 sons, Wayne and Scott.
She is survived by her brother, Barry, daughter, Tammy, 4 granddaughters, Mindy, Ashley, Kate, and Liz and 6 great-grandchildren.
Her Celebration of Life service will be held on April 11. Visitation begins at 10:30am and the service at 11. Followed by a luncheon. Southside Baptist Church. 4904 S. Dupont Hwy. Dover, Delaware. Officiated by Pastor Chris Kondracki.
Until the Twelfth of Never,
We'll still be loving you.
