Sharon Dillman Obituary

In Loving Memory of Sharon Ruth Dillman

Sharon Ruth Dillman, a beacon of love and compassion, was born on September 22, 1944, and peacefully departed from this world on March 8, 2024. Surrounded by the embrace of her devoted family, Sharon bid farewell, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and a lifetime of cherished memories.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, Former Delaware State Representative and decorated Marine John A. Dillman, Jr., Sharon's journey through life was marked by unwavering dedication to public service and a profound commitment to her community. Their enduring love story stands as a testament to a partnership built on shared values and mutual respect.

Sharon was not only a loving family member but also a distinguished professional. She served as a Research Manager at St. Andrews School in Middletown, Delaware, where her passion for education and commitment to excellence shone brightly. At St. Andrews School, she found joy in her work, leaving an indelible mark on the institution.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Sharon was crowned Miss Delaware in 1964, a title that reflected her grace, poise, and inner beauty. Her time as Miss Delaware showcased not only her external elegance but also her dedication to representing her state with pride and dignity.

Beyond her career and pageant days, Sharon treasured the great friendships formed during her time living at Hollywood Beach, MD. These connections brought her immense joy, and the camaraderie shared with friends in that community enriched her life with laughter, shared experiences, and lasting bonds.

Sharon's commitment to service extended beyond her professional and social circles. She dedicated her time and energy to volunteer work with the Methodist Church, embodying her deep faith through acts of kindness and compassion. Additionally, her altruistic spirit extended to Union Hospital, where she selflessly gave of herself to support the well-being of others in the community.

Outside of her volunteer work, Sharon enjoyed precious moments entertaining and sharing laughter with her sister, Jean Ann Trabaudo, who served as the Librarian at St. Andrews School. Their time together was not only a testament to the deep bond between sisters but also a source of joy and camaraderie for those fortunate enough to witness their close relationship. And if you were ever on the other end of their “Happy to You” song, you knew you were always in their hearts.

Sharon is survived by her niece, Michele Brewer (Tim), and nephews John Trabaudo (Lisa), Macky Trabaudo (Heather), Jeff Trabaudo (Tricia), and stepson John A. Dillman III. She leaves behind a legacy that extends to 4 great nieces and 3 great nephews, each carrying a piece of her love and kindness forward. Additionally, she is survived by two darling great-great nephews, Steele and Arlo, further adding to the generational impact of her warmth and affection.

Sharon's life was a tapestry of love, compassion, and selfless service to others. She will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and the unwavering support she provided to her family and friends throughout the years.

The interment will be conducted privately, followed by a memorial service to honor Sharon's life scheduled for this summer at Hollywood Beach. In lieu of floral tributes, the family respectfully asks for contributions to be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church, situated at 450 Third Street, Chesapeake City, MD, 21915, as a heartfelt gesture to perpetuate Sharon's legacy of benevolence.

May Sharon rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband, dancing with her sister, and may her memory continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
