Sarah Wilkinson Obituary

Sara Wilkinson, age 93, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025 in Milford, Delaware, reuniting with her beloved husband Glenn Wilkinson.

Born on September 5, 1931 in Hazlettville, she spent her life devoted to family, community, and the simple joys that made each day meaningful.

Sara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She worked for many years as a cashier with Nilon Brothers and was also  instrumental in supporting her late husband, Glenn Wilkinson, with record keeping at The Wilkinson Gas Station. She had a lifelong passion for Standardbred horse racing, a love shared with her husband, who once owned racehorses, and later with her son-in-law, a dedicated owner, trainer, and driver.

Sara found joy in the simple pleasures of life - working in her yard, completing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.

She especially loved being “mom-mom” and took great pride in that role. From daily school pickups and cheerleading practices to family gatherings and quiet afternoons, she treasured every moment spent with her granddaughter and great-grandson. Her presence was a constant source of love, laughter, and support.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glenn Wilkinson; her father Theodore Ivory (Edith); her mother Ida Furber (Daniel); her brothers Daniel “Buddy” Furber and Theodore “Buster” Ivory (Sharon); and her sisters: Ida Masten, Mary Shockley, and Ruth Wolf.

Sara is survived by her loving daughter Patty Brittingham (Victor); granddaughter Erica Brittingham (Joey); and great-grandson Carter Shlan. She also leaves behind her brothers: Matthew “Jigger” Ivory (Gloria), Frederick “Sonny” Furber (Theresa), Walter “Dickie” Ivory, and William “Billy” Ivory (Sherry); sisters, Elizabeth Lewis and Barbara Campbell; and many special nieces and nephews, including Matt Ivory and Cheryl Wyatt.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial contributions to the local  Kent County SPCA.

A public graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, 2928 Sharon Hill Road, Dover, DE 19904. Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
