Roxanne Lee Obituary

In Loving Memory of Roxanne A. Lee

September 20, 1958 – February 21, 2026

It is with profound sadness that the family of Roxanne Lee announces her peaceful passing on February 21st, 2026 at the age of 67.

Roxanne Anita Lee was born on September 20, 1958, the daughter of the late Anne Muriel (Harris) Carson and Herman Lewis White and was the oldest of two children.

As a child, she was raised and received her education in Howard County, Maryland. She graduated from Wilde Lake High School in 1976. Roxanne was an accomplished track and field athlete and in 1976 was the gold medal winner with a 10.8-second 100‑yard dash noted in the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) Record Books of State Championships. She had a fulfilling career as a Certified Nursing Assistant for several years until her career pathway led her to the Dover Air Force Base Youth Center. Her hard work and devotion led to her becoming director and she dedicated 22 years of exceptional service with Youth Programs. During her tenure as director, Roxanne engaged in community outreach that helped create opportunities for children and teens of active-duty service members as well as served as an inspiration for so many who walked through the doors of the youth center.

Roxanne was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of others before her own. She was a fiercely independent and strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. She loved and adored her children and grandchildren, the loves of her life! She will always be remembered for her love of home decorating, gardening, passion for arts and music, and creating a stunning winter wonderland in her home every holiday season to celebrate her favorite time of year.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Edward; children, David (Anja) Lee, Brian (Samantha) Lee, Jessica (Trevor) Buttrey; grandchildren, Anthony, Marcus, Kaden, Corrine, Alicia, Vera, and Kimberly; sister Gloria (Johnnie) Blackwell; nieces and nephew Taylor, Julian, Olivia as well as countless extended family members and friends.

Let us remember Roxanne with smiles and celebrate the impact she had on our lives. Though she will be deeply missed, her love will forever guide us.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 14th, at the First Baptist Church of Dover, 301 Walker Rd, Dover DE 19904. The family will start receiving guest at 10 a.m. with the Service starting at 11 a.m.
