Ronald John Pawlowski

Ronald John Pawlowski, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and veteran, passed away on June 21, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born on November 11, 1942, in Bayonne, New Jersey, Ron was the son of Walter Pawlowski and Helen Krupa. Shortly after his graduation from Bayonne High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, beginning a distinguished military career that would span more than 28 years.

During his Air Force service, Ron served as a loadmaster aboard the C-130 Hercules, C-141 Starlifter, and C-5 Galaxy aircraft. He also worked as a Command Center logistician and was instrumental in developing the Correctional Custody Program at Dover Air Force Base. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1970. Through dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment, he rose to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant before retiring from the Air Force in 1988.

Following his military retirement, Ron embarked on a second career with the State of Delaware Department of Correction, where he served for 20 years. His work reflected the same sense of duty and professionalism that had defined his military service.

Retirement did not slow him down. Ron volunteered at the Air Mobility Command Museum at Dover Air Force Base, where he worked alongside fellow volunteers to restore historic aircraft, helping preserve aviation history for future generations and contributing to aircraft displays throughout the country.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Ron was a lifelong “car guy,” an enthusiastic NASCAR fan, and an avid reader. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge, stories, and sense of humor with family and friends.

Ron was married to Rolanda “Randi” for 61 years, traversing the country numerous times on assignments at Ernest Harmon AFB in Newfoundland, Canada, Loring AFB in Limestone, ME, Norton AFB in San Bernardino, CA, Charleston AFB in Charleston, SC and Dover AFB in Dover, DE. He is also survived by his daughters, Denise Hughes and her husband Randy, and Christine Lawrence and her husband Steve Amato; his grandchildren, Brooke Lawrence and Chad Lawrence; his half-sister, Francine Case; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Following a private memorial service, Ron will be interred at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Delaware.
