Ronald Currier, Jr. Obituary

Ronald Currier, 71, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Accent Care hospice in Newark, Delaware, after a series of strokes.

Ron was born in Meredith, New Hampshire, and grew up in Southern California. He attended Newport High School and the University of Southern California, where he studied computer science and electronic music, before moving east. His career as a software engineer spanned almost 5 decades. He met his wife, Sheila, while working at Hendix Electronics, Manchester, NH, and they shared 47 years of marriage filled with adventure, creativity, and love. His passion for technology extended far beyond his professional life—he delighted in exploring new gadgets, dabbling in electronic music, and staying at the cutting edge of innovation throughout his life.

A man of many interests and talents, Ron was an audiophile and film enthusiast. He was a skilled woodworker and an accomplished cook, famous among family and friends for his chili. He loved the challenge of puzzles and the joy of building intricate models with LEGOs and model trains. His creative spirit also led him to the open water, where he loved sailing, and to concert halls and clubs, where he fed his love of live music.

Ron had a dry wit and sharp intelligence that endeared him to those who knew him. Whether he was tinkering with a new gadget, crafting something at his workbench, enjoying the thrill of rollercoasters, or planning his next travel adventure, he approached life with curiosity and enthusiasm.

After living in Bradford, Massachusetts, for 25 years, Ron relocated to Tampa, FL, and then to San Diego, CA, before recently retiring to Camden, Delaware.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila Currier; his daughter, Penelope; his brother, Bob, and sister-in-law, Robin, his faithful companion, Tess the cat; and by many aunts, uncles, cousins, cousins-in-law, and friends. He is predeceased by his mother, Patricia Plummer Currier, his father, Ronald L Currier Sr., and his sister Ann Currier. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank the care and compassion Ron received while at Bayhealth Hospital, Dover, Delaware; Christiana Hospital, Newark, Delaware; PAM Health Rehab Hospital, Dover, Delaware; and Accent Care Hospice, Newark, Delaware.

The family will hold a private remembrance and hope that those who knew him will raise a glass in his honor and remember the good times.
