With heavy hearts and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Robert Marshall Barbour, affectionately known as Bob, who earned his wings peacefully on July 15, 2025, at the age of 65, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Richlands, Virginia, Bob was the third child of Jake and Alladeen Barbour. Though life took him many places, he settled his homestead in the state of Delaware. Bob was a devoted father, a loyal friend, and a man of quiet strength and kindness.
He is survived by his three children—Brian Combs (Christie), Daniel Barbour, and Sarah Jones—who brought him immense pride and joy. His love extended fully to his five beloved grandchildren: Annabel, Trenton, Nolan, Kennedy, and Nova, who were the light of his life. Bob is also survived by his loving sisters, Sharon Roberts (Bill) and Sheryl Stafford (nieces Rebecca and Jessica), and his cherished nephew, William “Billy” Roberts IV (Christiana). Billy was more than a nephew—he was a treasured companion and dear friend whose bond with Bob was truly extraordinary. Bob's memory will carry on, not only through his dearest family, including a host of great nieces and nephews, but also through his best friend, Chris Piance, who over a lifetime built an unbreakable bond of true friendship and brotherhood.
Throughout his life, Bob built a diverse and meaningful career. He worked in housing development, served as an operations lead in the food industry, and held roles in logistics and technical services. A natural problem-solver and lifelong learner, he approached each job and opportunity with dedication and unwavering work ethic.
Bob’s personality was unforgettable—marked by a sharp, hilarious sense of humor, an easy smile, and a compassionate heart. He loved watching movies, birdwatching, fishing, coloring, and was rarely seen without music playing in the background. A truly devoted fan of concerts and the outdoors, Bob found peace in nature and joy in the simple things. Above all, Bob was known as a gentle, kind soul who cared deeply for those around him. A loving father, a protective brother, a doting grandfather, a wonderful uncle, and a true friend—his absence leaves a hole in many hearts, but his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched.
A private memorial service will be held in late summer, and Bob will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Cemetery in Clintwood, Virginia, returning him to his commonwealth roots.
He will be missed more than words can express, and remembered always with love, laughter, and gratitude.
