Robert Nicholas Wilkie

     Robert Nicholas “Bob” Wilkie, of Berlin, MD, was lifted up by our Lord, Thursday, September 9, 2021 in Tidal Health Center, Salisbury, Maryland. He was 86.

     Bob was born January 10, 1935, in Passaic, New Jersey to the late, Nicholas & Marie (Satton) Wilkie. He attended Hackensack City schools, and received his mechanical engineering degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison,  New Jersey.

     He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart Dorothy (Dotti) Wilkie, with whom he celebrated 64 years of marriage.

    Bob loved fishing, boating, hunting, and flying model airplanes. He and Dotti loved to travel, and visited the West Coast, The East Coast, and many adventures in between. They cruised to many ports, and toured Israel, England, and Scandanavia. He regaled in his Queen Elizabeth II Transatlantic Cruise, and flying on the Concorde.

    Bob enjoyed an illustrious career which included service in the National Guard, and he was very proud of the impactful contributions he made to the early Space program at I.L.C. in Dover, DE, and historic launches from Cape Canaveral, Florida; which became an important part of his legacy. He was also a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics.

    Together Bob & Dotti parented Four Loving daughters, Allison Snyder, Pamela Bienert, Elizabeth Wilkie-Cable, and the late, Darlene Wilkie. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Mike Snyder, Jessica Briles, Drew Snyder, Connor Snyder, Robert Kohl, and Hunter Kohl; and 6 great-grandchildren, Will, Alexis, Sam, & Jocelyn Snyder , and Emma & Benjamin Briles.

    Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at St. Andrews’s Lutheran Church, 425 North Dupont Highway, Dover, DE; where family and friends may view from 11am-1 pm. Burial will follow at  Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to  St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital Memorial Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
