Robert Wayne Webb, 67, of Georgetown, Delaware, went home to be with Lord on Thursday, October 5, 2023. Robert (Bobby) was born on March 5, 1956 in Dover, Delaware, son of the late Ann Hurd and James L. Webb.
Bobby was a proud graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, class of 1974 where he played football and was an active member of the FFA receiving the Star Farmer award his senior year. As a life-long learner, Bobby graduated Summa Cum Laude from Wilmington College in May of 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree. As a young man Bobby helped his Dad in the summers at their family business, Webb Paving Company. Bobby later worked at Fifer Farms in Magnolia, Delaware for several years prior to embarking on a long and rewarding career in the Delaware National Guard. Joining the Delaware National Guard in 1980, Bobby exhibited dedication and resilience by serving honorably for over 35 years. In addition to serving as a part-time Soldier, Bobby also enjoyed a long and rewarding career as a full-time civil service employee for the Delaware National Guard at Combined Support Maintenance Shop 09 in New Castle Delaware for 30 years. Upon his retirement in 2016, MSG Robert Webb was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal in recognition for his many years of dedicated and selfless service to the State of Delaware and the United States of America. After retiring from the National Guard Bobby enjoyed working with his son-in-law at Baxter Farms, Inc. where he had the joy to also work alongside his three grandsons.
Perhaps his greatest accomplishment was earning the rank of Pop-pop. Bobby’s pride and joy were his four grandchildren who brought him light and laughter everyday, they were the ‘apple of his eye’. Bobby enjoyed watching sports, playing volleyball and surf fishing. Bobby attended Crossroad Community Church in Georgetown, Delaware.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Webb.
Bobby is survived by his high school sweetheart, Deborah (Walton) Webb, to whom he had been married for forty-six years; his beloved mother Henrietta L. Webb of Camden Wyoming, Delaware; faithful in-laws BG (RET) Bruce R. Walton (Patricia) of Magnolia, Delaware; his sister Deborah Walls (Michael) of Dover, Delaware and their children Scott (Jacquelyn) Walls and their two children and Julie (D.C) Lavender and their three children; his brother Richard K.
