Robert William Turner (aka Bobby) was born on May 26, 1943 to the late Clarence Turner Sr. and Lucille (Turner) Thomas in Brooklyn, New York. He was also the stepson of Freddie Thomas Sr.
Bobby was married to his beloved wife on September 11, 1976. Bobby and Frances relocated from Queens, New York in September 2008 to Dover, Delaware. They joined New Jerusalem Baptist Church in 2009. Bobby became an active member at New Jerusalem. He was on the Trustee Board, sang on the Sanctuary Choir and the Men Choir. He was also a door keeper and assisted the mothers of the church.
Bobby loved to bowl, watch westerns – especially John Wayne, and sports. The New York Yankees was his favorite baseball team. He also enjoyed football and basketball. However, his favorite team was the winning team. Bobby spent his days on the patio talking to his neighbors and also donating to Delaware State by purchasing scratch off tickets.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents – Clarence Turner, Lucille (Turner) Thomas, stepfather Freddie Thomas Sr., four brothers – Clarence Turner Jr, David Turner, Arthur Turner, and Walter Turner. Surviving to cherish his memories are his brother Freddie Thomas Jr and sister Jackie Davis-Byrd, two sons - Robert Turner Jr (Nyesha), Johnny Turner (Brenda), and one daughter - Tangie Gulley; four stepchildren – Frances Thomas (Freddie Jr), April Hardison (Charles), Chester Kellam, and Wayne Kellam. And a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and a best friend Purcell Gibbs.
