Robert John Maloney, of Dover, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loving family, Monday, July 25, 2022. He was 83.
Robert was born February 8, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late James & Emily(Smith) Maloney. He served proudly in the United States Army from 1956-1959, and continued with a career in public service as a Police Officer for the City of Philadelphia for 20 years retiring in 1984. Robert was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 5, of Philadelphia, and the Modern Maturity Center, of Dover. He was an avid fan of the Flyers & Phillies, and in his free time enjoyed hunting, golfing, bowling, and playing Pinochle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert J. Maloney, Jr.; 3 brothers, William, James, and Joseph Maloney; and his sister, Margaret Conway.
Robert is survived by his loving & devoted wife of 38 years, Judith(Higman) Maloney; 4 children, William Maloney & wife, Gina, of Nixa, Missouri; Susan Venti & husband, Michael, of Red Oak, Texas; Norman Gibson & wife, Barbara, of Turnersville, N.J. and Deborah Walker & husband, James, of Boothwyn, PA.; his sister, Frances Cecero & husband, Anthony, of Somerdale, N.J.; 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews, as well as extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 11am, Saturday, July 30, 2022 in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming; where family and friends may view from 9am-11am. Entombment will be at a later date in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.
