Robert R. “Bobby” Long passed away on April 17, 2025. Bobby was born on April 4, 1937 to Franklin and Esther Long, in Wilmington, DE. He often spoke with warmth and fondness about his childhood memories.
He completed his education in the Wilmington Public School District and later pursued studies in accounting at Goldey-Beacom College.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in France, where he worked as a Code Reader. Following his honorable discharge, Bobby embarked on a diverse career path. He worked in a laboratory at a local refinery, served as a mover and driver for a moving company, and ultimately retired after being a delivery driver for several beverage companies.
In his free time, Bobby was a passionate cook and baker who loved sharing his homemade dishes and breads with friends and family. He was also an avid gardener, generously sharing his produce and flowers with others. A lover of travel, he would take trips up north during the autumn to enjoy the beauty of the season. Above all, Bobby treasured time spent with his loved ones.
Bobby is survived by nieces, nephews and extended family: Paul Long, Karen Best, Roger Long, James Wolfer, Kenny Wolfer, Ray Long, Gordon Long, Brian Long, Frank Beale, Gail Beale Donna Bahel, Barbara Kuhn, Michael Beale, Megan Moser, Casey Coventry, Devon Jenkins and John & Laurie Coventry. Bobby will be fondly remembered for his generous spirit, joyful heart, and the deep love he shared with those closest to him.
A Celebration of Bobby’s Life will be held on Thursday April 24, 2025 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware 19934. A viewing will begin at 10:00 A.M. followed by a service at 11:00 A.M. Following the service, Interment will take place at Gracelawn Memorial Park in New Castle, DE.
