Robert Michael Harrison, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children at the age of 67 on June 16, 2022 at Bayhealth Medical Center. He was a resident of Dover, Delaware.
Bob was born on February 20, 1955 in New York City. He served in the United States Air Force for 21 years and loved his country. His last assignment before retirement was Dover Air Force Base where he was promoted to Master Sergeant and began his role as a First Sergeant. During this time, he formed a lifelong bond with the other First Sergeants and valued the time they spent together even after retirement. Bob retired from the Air Force in 1995 and went on to work for the State of Delaware as the Chief Financial Officer at Delaware Emergency Management Agency. He retired from this position in 2017 in order to spend more time with his wife and family.
Bob was an avid football fan and loved cheering for his favorite team, the New York Giants. He continued his passion for football by spending time managing his fantasy football teams with both his son, James, and his son in law, John. Bob was also passionate about golf. In his earlier years you could always catch him on the golf course knocking out 18 holes with his buddies. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time at his camper in Lancaster, where you were guaranteed to find him reading a good book and relaxing on the deck with his wife, Pam.
Bob is survived by his wife, Pam, and their three children: James and his wife Dawn, Stacy and her husband John, Katie, and his eight grandchildren; Thomas, Charlotte, Sarah, Nick, Jacob, Madison, Michael and James, and his faithful furry companion, Eli. He is also survived by his five siblings: Marie Dvorak and her husband Michael, David Harrison, Michelle Prisco, Harold Harrison, Paul Harrison and his wife Nancy and several nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Katherine Harrison.
Bob’s wife and family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Dover Family Physicians, especially Dr. Rubacki, Dr. Patel, and Dr. Fletcher, along with the doctors, nurses, and therapists at Bayhealth Medical Center and the PAM Rehabilitation Center in Dover for the exceptional care and compassion given to Bob over the past years.
A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion in Dover, Delaware on Saturday, August 13th at 5:00 pm. We will be gathering to share our favorite memories of Bob. Casual dress is encouraged.
