Rita Saulsbury Obituary
Rita Saulsbury, 92, passed away on July 21, 2025.
Born and raised in Federalsburg, MD, Rita graduated from Federalsburg High School in
1951 and went on to attend Wesley College in Dover, DE. She met and married the
love of her life, Charles, spending over 68 years together. They enjoyed life together
walking the beaches, building and renovating houses, trying their hand at other side
projects such as a crafting, helping and spending time with friends and family, and
camping at Chick-fil-A openings, all while parenting their four children.
Rita’s name was synonymous with volunteering. She actively lent her talents to her
college, scouts, PTA, band and her daughter’s modeling activities. With her children
grown, she would give of her time to family members in need and most recently
volunteered with Westminster Village Thrift Shop where she resided. She loved to
socialize and was the founding queen of the local Red Hatters Society that was one of
the largest in the area. Rita also served as a spokesperson for Westminster and made
multiple appearances in their brochures. Everywhere she went Rita made new friends,
staying in touch with many for several years.
Rita is survived by three families: her son, Grant, and Patricia, along with grandson,
Eric; her son, Steve, and Theresa; and her daughter, Joanne, and Tom, along with
grandson, Tavish. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry Wilson and his wife, El,
who reside in Chatteroy, WA, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Charles, and son, Wade.
A Celebration of Life for Rita will take place in the West Room of Westminister Village, 191 Westminster Drive, Dover, DE 19904 on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M..
