Richard "Rass" Rassmussen Obituary

     Richard “Rass” S. Rassmussen, 71, of Felton, DE passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Bayhealth Sussex Hospital. He was born to the late Hallie (Byron) and David Lee Rassmussen Sr. in Easton, MD on October 4,1951. He settled in Camden-Wyoming, DE for 48 years before living his final years in Felton, DE.

     Richard graduated from Kent County High School in Chestertown, MD. He worked for Grant and Sons Roofing and Siding in Milford, DE for 15 years before retiring in 2006. 

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother David Wayne Rassmussen. He is survived by his lifelong partner, Mary Louise Everett with whom he spent his life with for 50 years; his brother Leslie Michael Rassmussen and his wife Cheryl of Eden, MD; 2 sisters: Toni Marie Peterson of Willards, Maryland, and Linda Lee Naundorf of Delmar, MD; his stepson William E. Everett of Felton, DE; his granddaughter Julianna J. Rose of Kutztown, PA; and his 3 nieces and 2 nephews. 

     Everyone that knew Richard knows how he would light up a room with the biggest smile that went to his eyes when he talked about his loved ones, especially his granddaughter. Richard will be remembered for his love of sunsets, gardening, classic cars, music, and his family. His home away from home was Betterton Beach in Maryland.

     The family will hold a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
