Richard Thomas Ziegler

Richard T. Ziegler, age 78 of Dover, DE passed away on May 6, 2023.  Mr. Ziegler was born in Queens, NY on February 5, 1945, son of the late Martin & Elsie Ziegler.

Richard attended Jamaica High School and graduated from Brown University with a degree in banking.  He worked, starting out as a teller and retiring after 30 years as Vice President, for Queens County Savings Bank.  After retirement he moved to Delaware.

When not working, Richard loved travel, reading, seeing movies and musical productions, and gardening.   He was passionate about politics.  He loved fine dining and German & Italian food.  He loved animals, especially his cats, Snoopy, Lucky & Gizmo.  He was generous and donated vigorously to many charities.  His families looked forward to his pies on special events and holidays.   He was heavily involved with the Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion in Philadelphia, PA where he was ministered to by Pastor Kari.  He spent time in later years at the Modern Maturity Center in Dover, DE.

Besides his loving parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Louis & Martin; his niece, Gailemarie and a nephew, Robert.

He is survived by his partner, Robert Vasquez and his sisters, Pat, Frances, Maria & Jane, brothers, Junie & Sam, his nieces, Marie, Sue Ellen & Allison, a cousin, Charles, extended family & friends.

Visitation Monday, May 15, 2023 from 6 to 8 pm and Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 10 am until the time of service 11 am at Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming, DE.  Interment to follow at Sharon Hills Cemetery, Dover, DE.
