Richard Bush Obituary

WYOMING-Richard (ReRe) Wayne Bush, 72 of Wyoming DE passed away on January 13, 2022, following a short illness.

Richard was born on November 21, 1949, to Robert and Kathryn Bush in Delaware. Richard graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in 1969 back when every grade was in the same building.

Richard grew up helping on the family farm from a very young age. He was driving tractors and vehicles from the age of 8 years old. As he grew older, he developed a great love for sports, especially baseball and classic cars. Richard would often attend classic car shows and loved going to baseball games and watching them on tv, especially his favorite team the Phillies. He would grow up to become a mechanic for most of his adult life working many years at Tire King in Dover, DE. Richard eventually retired from being a mechanic and started working at Walmart in Camden, where he worked for 18 years. He retired for good in 2020 from Walmart and enjoyed his well-deserved break from the working world. Richard was an avid storyteller and loved talking about his life growing up and the fun he had with his friends. He would often bring his children out to his parents’ home to visit, to eat amazing sandwiches, and to play cards. In his retirement he enjoyed going out to breakfast and dinner with his partner Penny of 15 years, his children, and grandchildren. Richard and Penny could also be found visiting different family members throughout their week as well. He loved to go to local Amish owned farms to buy fruits and vegetables for himself as well as others. He adored his grandchildren and loved being a Pop-Pop.

Richard is survived by his daughter Melissa Piazza (James) of Frederica, son Jeremy Bush of Wyoming, and his partner Penny Collins of Wyoming; three grandchildren: Bryce (14), Liam (8), and Brooklynn (7), his brother Robert Bush (Marcy), his sister Wanda Houdek (Mike), many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father Robert and mother Katherine, many aunts, uncles, close lifelong friends, and his beloved boxer Petey.

Richard’s wish of no funeral service will be granted. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local little league to continue to support the passion of baseball for children. Online condolences may be made via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
