Anthony (Tony) David Freeman, age 70, of Dover DE passed away on December 25, 2025. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Tony was born on April 22, 1955 in Dover. He was the beloved son of Thomas and Della Freeman. He graduated from Dover High School in 1973 and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he proudly served his country for four years until 1977 and received an honorable discharge. Anthony went on to build a career serving the city of Dover, eventually owning his own business for 10 years. Later, he worked for the Murphy School and the State of Delaware for 23 years, before transitioning to a position with BayHealth Medical Center after his retirement.
In 1995, Anthony married his beloved wife Stephanie, and together they shared 30 years of marriage, bringing their families together and building a home filled with love, joy, and faith. Anthony was a dedicated father to many, and a proud and loving grandfather.
A lifelong member of First Pilgrim Baptist Church, founded by his father, Anthony was deeply devoted to his faith and the church community. In 2004, he was ordained as a Reverend, and served in numerous capacities, including teaching Sunday School, mentoring the youth, participating in the men’s fellowship, and providing support through the hospital ministry. His strong faith and commitment to service were a constant presence in his life.
Outside of his work and ministry, Anthony was a passionate sports fan, especially known for his love of the Raiders, San Antonio Spurs, and New York Yankees. He was always eager to cheer for his teams, sharing that enthusiasm with his family and friends
Anthony was preceded in death by his father Thomas, his mother Della, and his siblings: brothers Rev. J Theophilus, Dennis, Titus, Benjamin, Monroe, Zacchaeus, Morris, Andrew, Timothy, and Augustine, and sisters Eva Freeman and Beatrice Edwards.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Stephanie; daughters Tonisha (Randy), Lateefah (William), Eva, and Benyette; sons Stephon (Brittany) and Jason (Lina); brother Freeman T. Freeman; sisters Bishop Dorina C. Miles and Della Scott; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a large extended family. Anthony’s life touched countless people, and his legacy of love, faith, hard work, and service will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
