Rebecca Walton Obituary

Rebecca “Becky” M. Walton passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 27, while recuperating from a short illness. She was 88 years old. Born on July 12, 1937, in Wyoming, Delaware—a distinction she always made with pride—Becky lived a life marked by steadfast faith, deep compassion, and wholehearted hospitality.

A proud graduate of Caesar Rodney High School’s Class of 1955, Becky cherished her roots and carried the warmth of her hometown throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George R. Walton, Jr., her parents Clarence and Dorothy Marker, her brother Robert Marker, her brother-in-law Delmas “Babe” Failing and her daughter in-law Celene Walton. She is survived by her four children—Mark (Linda), George III, Ron, and Sue—as well as her treasured grandchildren: Chris (Jill), Megan (Russ), Katie (Steven), Josh, and Shannon, her great grandchildren -Paige and Piper, her sister Dorothy Failing and sister-in-law Debbie Marker. While she deeply loved all of her extended family, she had a special place in her heart for her nephew Del.

Becky’s life was joyfully defined by her devotion to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her church, and her family. A true prayer warrior, she served faithfully as Chairwoman of the Christian Women’s Club, led countless Bible studies, taught Sunday School, and participated in prison ministry. She was not only a student of Scripture but a teacher and mentor whose gentle wisdom touched many lives.

Her home was a haven—always open to anyone who needed a safe space, a warm meal, or simply a listening ear. She welcomed all with kindness, the happiest eyes, and her famous iced tea. Her macaroni and cheese wasn’t bad either.

Becky was an avid quilter and skilled seamstress, creating beautiful works of art stitched with love. She enjoyed playing cards and games—and despite letting her grandchildren win every time, she secretly enjoyed winning herself. After church, she loved gathering with friends for lunch and fellowship.

A die-hard Philadelphia sports fan, Becky cheered especially loud for her beloved Eagles. Whether celebrating a big win or shaking her head at a tough loss, she followed them with unwavering loyalty.

Above all, Becky will be remembered for how deeply she loved. Her faith shaped every part of her life, her generosity lifted others, and her gentle presence brought comfort to all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and quiet strength that will continue to guide her family for generations.

A service honoring her life will begin at 11:00 on Monday, December 8, 2025 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, where family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Camden.
