Randell ( Randy) Humphreys Obituary

Randell, “Randy” Reid Humphreys, 63, of Georgetown, Delaware, departed family and friends on
Tuesday July 6, 2021, after a brief but courageous battle with leukemia at Christiana Hospital. Randy was
born on September 27, 1957 in Harriman, Tennessee to Geralene and the late Reid W. Humphreys. He
graduated from Forest Park High School (Georgia) in 1975 and went on to proudly serve his country as a
United States Marine from 1977 to 1983. He spent the majority of his career as a pipefitter and welder,
and he was most recently employed by Apex Mechanical and Fabrication in Newport, DE. Randy was also
passionate about the volunteer fire service and was a life member and engineer for the Georgetown Fire
Company, Station 77.
Anyone close to Randy would easily describe him as hardworking, loyal, kind-hearted, selfless, and an
extremely loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and “pop-pop.” In his spare time, he
enjoyed family trips to Disney (of course, while sporting his favorite Pirates of the Caribbean garb), guns,
NASCAR, surf fishing, and a glass of sweet tea was never far from his hand. Randy always had a good joke
or story to tell, and it was never difficult for him to give us a good laugh. He truly embodied the
definition of a family man and was deeply proud to be an American.
Randy is preceded in death by his father, Reid Will Humphreys. He is survived by his wife of 37 years,
Cynthia Humphreys; son Steven Sean Humphreys and his wife Julie; son Brent Humphreys and his wife
Lyndsay; son Ethan Humphreys; 5 grandchildren who loved him dearly: Rhys (14), Peyton (11), Owen
(10), Sawyer (5), and Ren Humphreys (10 months); mother Geralene Humphreys and sister Sheila
Humphreys of Ellenwood, GA; and sister Donna Howell and her husband Doyle of Newnan, GA. Randy
also left behind numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members,
and cherished friends.
A viewing will be held Tuesday July 13, 2021 at Crossroads Community Church 20684 State Forrest Rd
Georgetown, DE. 19947 from 10 A.M. to noon, with funeral services starting at noon. Burial will follow at Union
Cemetary in Georgetown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Randy
to the Georgetown Fire Company P.O. Box 77 Georgetown, DE. 19947.

"Those we love do not go away, they walk beside us every day. Always near, still loved, still missed, and
held so dear. The angels are always close to those who are grieving-to whisper to them that their loved
ones are safe in the hands of God.”
