With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Ralph Joseph Jones, a beloved father, husband, grandfather, and friend. Ralph peacefully entered the presence of the Lord on November 10, 2024, at the age of 75, surrounded by his family. A few months prior to his passing, Ralph welcomed the Lord into his heart and spent his remaining time reading his Bible and in blessed fellowship with God and his loved ones.
Ralph was born and raised in Washington, D.C., and graduated from Anacostia High School. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving at Andrews Air Force Base, Taiwan, and Dover Air Force Base, where he finished his military career and retired after 20 years of service. Following his retirement, Ralph returned to Dover Air Force Base as a civilian employee, where he officially retired in 2016.
Above all, Ralph cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, family, and friends. He was exceptionally talented, widely admired for his unparalleled woodworking craftsmanship, which he often showcased on TV programs like WBOC's Scorchy Tawes. A passionate sports fan, Ralph had a deep love for football, especially the Washington Redskins. As a charter boat captain for many years, he found immense joy being near the ocean. His love for fishing was steadfast, and he always looked forward to every outing with family and friends. Ralph was also a skilled softball player known for his remarkable knuckleball pitch and a highly accomplished horseshoe player, winning numerous competitions over the years.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 51 years, Carole Jones, his children William Jones (Jennifer), Matthew Jones (Danielle), and 4 grandchildren, Joseph (Rylee), Emily, Madison, and Katherine Jones. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph W. Jones and Mildred L. Jones, and his sister Eleanor.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W.
