Rachel Marie (Veasey) Cowart, age 84, passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of Saturday, July 11, 2026.
Rachel is survived by her sisters, Barbara Turek and her husband Lee Turek, and Marti Wyatt; her daughter Lisa Cowart and granddaughters Gabriella and Daniella; and her daughter Dana Dring and Rachel's favorite son-in-law, Craig Dring. She is also survived by her great-grandson, Gabriella’s son, Jameson, whom she adored and spoiled every chance she had.
Rachel was the mother every child wished for. Through her humor, love, and generosity, she made every birthday and holiday special and created a lifetime of memories her family and friends will carry with them always.
A celebration of Rachel's life will be held at the Rehoboth Beach Country Club on Tuesday, July 28, at 5:00 p.m. All are welcome and men are requested to wear a collared shirt.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Rachel's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to AccentCare Hospice.
Please remember Rachel whenever you see carnations or flamingos, whenever you enjoy Hershey's chocolate, vanilla ice cream, or peppermint patties and whenever someone sings “You Are My Sunshine”. May these simple things bring back warm memories of a deeply loved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Love you more Mom! Wherever you are, don’t take any wooden nickels!
