With deep sorrow, we, the family of Providencia “Provi” Verdejo Ramos, announce her passing on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the age of 82. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and most recently residing in Camden-Wyoming, Delaware, Provi lived a life marked by love, service, and devotion to family.
Although Provi loved her birthplace of Puerto Rico, her heart truly belonged to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, where she lived for 52 years after moving there from Puerto Rico. She was known for her compassion, kindness, positivity, and bright smile. Provi was caring and funny, but above all, she was deeply devoted to her children and family.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: Stephany Louzau Washington and son-in-law Charles Washington III; Ezaar Barrow; and Su-wanna Barrow Clinton and son-in-law Glenn Clinton.
She was also a devoted and loving grandmother to Amara Lewis Nixon (husband, Kristopher Nixon), Selene Washington, Anura Reid, Charles Washington IV, Ezaar Barrow Jr., Kaili Barrow, Malani Barrow, and Koa Barrow. She was blessed with great-grandchildren, Kristopher Nixon Jr., Joella Moran, Maxwell Nixon, and Kairo Nixon, with one more precious great-grandchild on the way.
Additionally, Provi is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives and loved ones, too numerous to mention.
During her professional career, Provi served in retail management, worked as a substitute teacher in the education system, and held various positions in government before ultimately retiring from the Department of Health. Beyond her career, she faithfully served her church and volunteered in the community, always extending a helping hand to young people and those in need.
Provi will forever be remembered and cherished for her unwavering love, her dedication to serving others, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her beautiful legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know and love her.
A funeral service for Providencia will take place on Wednesay, March 25, 2026 at Pippin Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery.
